Principles of Photography Class with Monte Nagler/ Interlochen Center for the Arts

In this photography class; go from simply taking snapshots to making photographs with award-winning artist, noted author, and lecturer, Monte Nagler. Learn about depth of field, filters, composition, how cameras work and more, as Mr. Nagler demonstrates the principles of good photography and shares his personal history through the viewing of photographs from his personal collection. Class time will be devoted to an optional morning critique of students previous photographic work as well as an afternoon photography excursion on the grounds of Interlochen Center for the Arts. No experience is necessary and all cameras are welcome. Students interested in submitting their photographs as a part of the optional in-class critique must send their images via email no later than October 23. See more details below.

*K-12 Educators: 5 continuing education clock hours may be earned by attending this workshop.
Students should bring their camera to the workshop. All types of cameras welcome. Please plan to wear comfortable clothing and shoes and be prepared to walk around the campus grounds.
Students may submit 2-3 photographs of their own work in advance of the workshop to be included in the morning in-class critique. Submissions are optional, but encouraged, and are aimed to help the instructor provide each student with specific guidance for the afternoon photography shoot on the Interlochen campus.
Photos must be submitted via email to email@example.com by October 23 in order to be included in the slideshow. Files should be at least 300 dpi, saved in .jpg format, and sent as attachments. Please title the subject of your email: “Firstname Lastname Photo Submission.”
